Hi there!
My name is Jenna Ryu (pronounced Roo).
I'm a Lifestyle writer at SELF Magazine, covering all things to improve your emotional and physical well-being. Beauty. Friendship. Skin care. Relationships. Mental health. You name it!
I'm committed to science-backed wellness and lifestyle content, but also make sure to provide expert advice that is specific, practical, and most of all, realistic.
I graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with degrees in psychology and journalism. While in school, I served as the senior editor for The Hoya's "Fourth Edition" lifestyle magazine and a research assistant for Dr. Rachel Barr's developmental psychology lab on campus.
Before wellness reporting, I started as a Life and Entertainment intern at USA TODAY. Throughout my career, I've appeared on "Good Morning America" and SiriusXM's "Mornings with Zerlina Maxwell."
I am based in New York City, though I have traveled much of my life, living in Arizona, California and Seoul, South Korea. In my free time, I enjoy long distance running, acrylic painting, playing squash and watching horror movies.
